I. Overview

Founded in 2009, the Institute of Industrial Economics of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics was entitled to grant doctoral and master’s degrees in industrial economics and has established the first postdoctoral research station in applied economics within Jiangxi province. In 2007, industrial economics was approved by the Ministry of Education as a national key discipline. The institute focuses on industrial innovation and strategic emerging industries, industrial organization and structure, and industrial regulation and competition.

 

II. Faculty

The institute boasts 17 full-time faculty members, of which 8 have the title of associate professor or above, and also recruits more than 20 guest professors or visiting professors from both home and abroad.

 

III. Research Achievements

Since 2009, the institute has completed more than 30 projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the National Social Science Foundation of China, published 6 books and more than 300 papers in core journals and won 1 second prize and 1 third prize for outstanding research achievements at the provincial and ministerial level. 

 

IV. Social Contributions

The institute is committed to improving the quality of talent training, following the trend of industrial economics, continuously optimizing the curriculum structure, and recruiting well-known scholars. Since its inception, the institute has sent more than 300 outstanding senior talents in industrial economics management to the society, and has been highly recognized by large enterprises, financial institutions, and government departments.

In addition, the institute has established stable partnerships with major academic institutions in industrial economics such as the China Industrial Economics Society and the Institute of Industrial Economics of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. In June 2014, two Nobel laureates in economics, Professor Eric Maskin of Harvard University and Professor Jean Tirole of the University of Toulouse, were invited to deliver theme reports in the “International Symposium on Mechanism Design and Industrial Organization” hosted by the institute, which aroused a strong response from the economists in China.

Since 2012, the National Industrial Economics Forum for Graduate Students has become a high-quality platform for academic exchanges and an academic brand in industrial economics.
