Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics (JUFE) is located in Nanchang, the capital city of Jiangxi Province, with the Ganjiang River to the east, the Meiling Scenic Area to the west, Lushan Mountain in the north and the Jinggang Mountains to the south. The campus possesses beautiful scenery and a unique topography, and was designated as one of the top 300 greening areas in China. Over the past 90 years, the development of JUFE can be divided into four stages.

Initial period (1923-1958)

It can be traced back to Jiangxi Provincial Commercial School founded in 1923, which was later consolidated with other schools and developed as Jiangxi Training College in 1927. In the same year, this new college was dismantled, and the existing Commercial School changed its name to Jiangxi Nanchang Commercial and Training School in 1935. During the Anti-Japanese War, a multitude of teachers and students had to move to An Fu, Tai He, Yong Feng, etc. In 1949, the university was renamed Jiangxi Financial School and later renamed Nanchang Statistics School of National Bureau of Statistics in May 1954.

Development period1958-1978

On August 1958, Nanchang Statistics School consolidated with other schools and became the first undergraduate college in Jiangxi, namely  Jiangxi Finance and Economics College. During the economic depression in 1962, the college was closed down till 1973 March, when it was reestablished.

Recovery period (1978-1996)

On the basis of Jiangxi Finance and Trade Cadre School, it was renamed to Jiangxi Finance and Economics College in December 1978 again. Since March 12, 1980, the college was administered by the Ministry of Finance and the Peoples Government of Jiangxi Province

Booming period (2006-now)

In May 1996, a merger was implemented between Jiangxi Finance and Economics College and Jiangxi Finance and Trade Cadre School to form Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics. Under the joint administration of the Ministry of Finance and the People’s Government of Jiangxi Province, JUFE merged Nanchang Forestry Faculty and Jiangxi Information and Engineering Faculty in 2002 and 2003 respectively. Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics (JUFE) became the university with a focus on economics and business administration as well as embracing disciplines of law, engineering, humanities, natural science, education, philosophy, history and arts. On February 6th, 2008, Premier Wen Jiabao celebrated New Year's Eve with the faculty and students of JUFE and praised its dominance in these fields, which has been an inspiration to the JUFE community as it strives towards academic excellence. At present, JUFE is under the university-enterprise cooperation mode guided by the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Education as well as the Peoples Government of Jiangxi Province, which encourages the university to reach new heights. On September 21st, 2012, The Innovation Center for Jiangxi Strategic Emerging Industry Development, Monitoring and Decision Support of JUFE was approved as the first “2011 Innovation Center” units in Jiangxi Province. In May 2013, JUFE was approved The Midwest Universities Construction Project.

After 90 years of continuous development, JUFE is committed to supporting its 4 pillars of Honesty, Vitality, Integrity, and Tenacity, which form the university motto. It encourages our students and teachers to think critically and creatively.
