I. Overview

With the intention to pursue ecological civilization and green development and build Jiangxi Ecological Civilization Pilot Zone, the Institute of Ecological Civilization as an independent entity was established in September 2016. It is the integration of the Collaborative Innovation Center for the Construction of Jiangxi Ecological Civilization System and the Research Center of Ecological Civilization and Modern China.

 

II. Faculty

The institute currently owns 15 full-time researchers, including 8 associate professors or above, 4 doctoral supervisors, and 7 master supervisors. Whats more, it has 16 guest professors or visiting professors from home and abroad.

 

III. Research Achievements

The institute has completed more than 30 provincial and ministerial projects and over 20 projects supported by the National Social Science Foundation of China and the National Natural Science Foundation of China and published 20 plus books and over 100 papers in domestic and foreign academic journals. Besides, it has won more than 10 provincial-and-ministerial level awards, including 2 first prizes, 6 second prizes, and 3 third prizes for outstanding achievements in social sciences in Jiangxi Province, 1 second prize for scientific and technological achievements of universities in Jiangxi Province, and 1 first prize for teaching achievements of Jiangxi Province.

 

IV. Research Institutes and Bases

The institute has subordinates such as the Institute of Land Resources and Environmental Economy, the Institute of Ecological Industry and Green Development, the Institute of the Construction of Beautiful Countryside, the Institute of Green Taxation and Finance, and the Land Management Research Center.

In addition, it has established stable partnerships with the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Jiangxi Development and Reform Commission, the Department of Finance of Jiangxi Province, Jiangxi Provincial Bureau of Statistics, the Office of Mountain-River-Lake Development Committee of Jiangxi Province, Jiangxi Agricultural University, Jiangxi Academy of Environmental Protection Sciences, etc.

 

V. Programs and Talent Cultivation

1. Programs: Master’s and PhD Programs in Land Resources and Ecological Economics

2. Talent Cultivation Goals: In order to build an ecological civilization in China, the institute is committed to cultivating “aspiring, ethical, cultivated, and disciplined” high-caliber talents who are independent, and innovative, and have a compound type of knowledge structure and broad academic vision in land resources and ecological economics.

3. Talent Cultivation Features: The institute adheres to the concept of learning, research, and application, focuses on the improvement of students' research and innovation capabilities, and therefore forms its distinguished feature for cultivating innovative high-level academic talents.

4. Length of Schooling and Awarding of Degrees: 3 years for master's and doctoral degree in economics

5. Core Courses: Advanced Land Economics and Management, Advanced Resource and Environmental Economics, Land Resources and Ecological Econometric Analysis, Frontiers of Ecological Civilization Construction, etc.

 

VI. Talent Cultivation Achievements

2. Awards 

Students’ works have successively won the Challenge Cup National College Students Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Competition Excellence Award, 1 first prize in Jiangxi Section, 3 second prizes and 1 third prize in Jiangxi Postgraduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling, 1 second prize and 1 third prize in the Huachuang Cup Market Research and Analysis Competition in Jiangxi Province.

3. Student Publications and Patents

Since 2016, graduate students of the institute have published a total of 45 academic papers in professional academic journals at home and abroad, including 32 papers in SSCI/SCI, 2 in domestic B-type journals, 8 in CSCD/CSSCI, and 3 in general core journals.

4. Graduate Cultivation

The institute focuses on the improvement of students' research and innovation ability, as well as providing graduates with a wide range of learning pathways such as project research, social research, academic exchanges, and professional skills training. The talent training has achieved fruitful results. In recent years, more than 40 papers have been published in academic journals, 4 provincial-level research projects have been approved, more than 10 students have been awarded national and provincial government scholarships, and won prizes in national competitions such as the Challenge Cup, mathematical modeling, and research in China. Graduates find jobs in various fields such as universities, land and resources departments, financial institutions, and real estate companies.
