I. Overview
The Institute of Jiangxi Economic Development and Reform mainly studies regional finance, regional policy, regional tourism, regional industry, rural revitalization, scientific and technological innovation, regional coordination, and opening-up to the outside world. The institute consists of Industrial Development Research Center, Regional Economics Research Center, Research Center of Urban Agglomeration in the Middle Reaches of the Yangtze River and General Administration Office. It is committed to serving as a high-level academic platform and think tank to serve the economic development of Jiangxi Province.
The institute was granted the right to educate the students majoring in regional economics. As a sub-discipline of applied economics, regional economics focuses on the research on major strategies, significant reforms, important policies, big plans, core industries, major projects and economic situation analysis of Jiangxi Province. The research outputs of the institute offer helpful references for the decision-making of Jiangxi Development and Reform Commission, Department of Industry and Information Technology of Jiangxi Province, Department of Finance of Jiangxi Province, etc.
II. Faculty
At present, the institute has 14 full-time faculty members, including 7 researchers (professors), 3 associate researchers (associate professors) and 4 assistant researchers. Additionally, it has employed 7 visiting researchers from the People’s Government of Jiangxi Province.
III. Achievements
In recent years, the institute has have over 10 projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the National Social Science Foundation of China, published more than 50 books and 400 plus high-quality papers, being awarded 2 first prizes, 9 second prizes and 21 third prizes at the provincial and ministerial-level.
It strongly supports graduate students to conduct academic research, provides generous scholarships for outstanding graduate students, and fully subsidizes several students to participate in academic exchanges and project training at home and abroad each year.
