I. Overview
The School of Software and Internet of Things Engineering (the School of Yongyou Software) was established in 2002 and, in September 2002, undergraduates began to be matriculated. In June 2009, the School of Software and Communication Engineering was established based on the acquisition of the School of Yongyou Software and the School of Electronics and it was in 2007 that the school earned its current name.
II. Faculty
The school has a faculty pool of 77, with 62 full-time lecturers, including 9 professors, 28 associate professors, 4 doctoral supervisors, and 37 master supervisors. Additionally, four of them were crowned as young and middle-aged academic leaders of Jiangxi province, two of them as the candidates of the Hundred-Thousand-Ten Thousand Talents Project in Jiangxi Province, three of them as young and middle-aged backbone teachers of Jiangxi province, and two of them as young scientists (the Stars of Jinggan) of Jiangxi province.

2. Introduction of Bachelor’s Programs
Internet of Things Engineering:
This program aims to train applied talents in engineering technology with economic thinking, management quality, and innovative spirit who have an overall development of morality, intelligence, physical fitness, and aesthetics, meet the needs of socio-economic development and the development of the Internet of Things industry at home and abroad, master solid expertise in IoT engineering, are competent in the development, application management, and maintenance of various Internet of Things systems, and have the qualities of “Honesty, Vitality, Integrity, and Tenacity”.
Software Engineering:
The program aims to train applied talents in engineering technology with economic thinking, management quality, and innovative spirit who have an overall development of morality, intelligence, physical fitness, and aesthetics, and possess the qualities of honesty, excellence, integrity, and perseverance. Graduates should master the basic theory of software engineering and professional knowledge of software development and management, have skills in analysis, design, implementation, testing, and application of software systems as well as strong command of a foreign language, and the ability to become relatively high-level software engineering technology and management talents in software enterprises, government agencies, public institutions, Internet industry, finance and securities organizations, gaming and entertainment industries, etc.
Software Engineering (Chinese-Foreign Cooperative Education):
Through introducing high-quality teaching resources and training programs from the University of Dalarna, Sweden, this program aims to train international talents engaged in engineering technology and management in the field of software engineering with economic thinking, management quality, and innovative spirit who have an overall development of morality, intelligence, physical fitness, and aesthetics, own the qualities of honesty, excellence, integrity, and perseverance, are proficient in international communication, systematically grasp the basic theories, methods, and technologies of software engineering as well as the professional knowledge and skills in software system analysis, design, implementation, testing, and application, and possess strong service consciousness, team consciousness, and practical ability.
3. Introduction of Master’s Programs
Educational Technology:
The program aims to cultivate high-level and application-oriented talents in scientific research and educational informatization with an international vision who have a comprehensive development of morality, intelligence, physical fitness, and aesthetics, meet the needs of China's socialist modernization development, systematically master the basic theoretical knowledge of educational technology, have a good command of a foreign language, are proficient in basic technologies and methods in the fields of mobile learning, ICT education, and software engineering, and are able to engage in the teaching, research, and project development of educational informatization of enterprises and public institutions.
Software Engineering:
Software engineering is a first-level discipline in the field of engineering, with broad application and development prospects. This program focuses on the study of theories and methods of software design, development, and maintenance, and gives priority to the study of massive financial data mining and simulation, business intelligence theory and technology in a mobile environment, and the credibility assurance of networked information systems through relying on our school's advantageous disciplines in finance and others. Moreover, the major aims to cultivate engineering talents who have solid basic theory and systematic knowledge of software engineering, understand the development frontiers and trends in the field of software engineering, have strong practical ability, and are able to engage in the research, development, and application of computer software systems.
Electronics and Communication Engineering:
The program aims to cultivate innovative, application-oriented, and compound high-level talents in the fields of engineering technology and engineering management who have a solid foundation, comprehensive quality, and strong engineering practice ability in electronics and communications. The degree holders should master solid basic theory and broad professional knowledge in the fields of electronics and information engineering, have strong skills in computer literacy and English as well as advanced technical methods and modern technical means to solve engineering problems, own the capability to independently undertake engineering technology and engineering management, have good professional ethics and intensive love for the motherland, and actively serve China's socialist modernization.
4. Talent Cultivation Features
1. Build a talent training system based on financial background, industry needs, and output orientation. 2. Promote the deep integration of modern information technology and teaching and reshape the teaching structure. 3. Reconstruct the three-level practical teaching system based on software factory as well as the three-level practice teaching system based on software training factory, software outsourcing factory, and software maker factory, and explore the entrepreneurial talent training model of software that integrates the three aspects of science-education integration, industry-education integration, and school-enterprise integration. 4. Insist on promoting learning with competitions.
5. Length of Schooling and Awarding of Degrees
The length of schooling for postgraduates is three years, with a flexible learning period of 2-4 years.
The length of schooling for undergraduates is four years.

2. Awards and Student Publications and Patents
(1) Multi-sensor Fusion Gesture Recognition and Control System Based on Deep Learning guided by teacher Xie Liang won the special award of the 16th Challenge Cup National Scientific and Technological Academic Competition for College Students. This is the second special award of the Challenge Cup in 30 years and the first special award of scientific and technological invention in Jiangxi province, which marks a new breakthrough in our school.
(2) Students have achieved promising results in international competitions, such as the ACM-ICPC Competition in Asia, the 13th ICAN International Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, and the International Competition of Lan Qiao Cup.
(3) More than 500 students have participated in 106 international, national, and provincial innovation and entrepreneurship competitions and won 106 awards. Additionally, students have published 19 academic papers and won 76 awards at provincial level or above (including 13 national awards), 5 innovation and entrepreneurship projects for college students, 21 university-level research projects, and 9 software copyrights and patents.
(4) The school won two of seven prizes in the 2018 Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Program.
(5) In the selection of top ten graduation designs in 2019, the school won the first and second prizes through two of the four non-economic management articles.
3. Graduate Cultivation
The school has three master’s programs: educational technology, software engineering, and electronics and communications engineering. By the end of 2019, the school had recruited 155 graduate students, containing 41 academic graduate students and 114 professional graduate students. The school currently has 40 full-time master supervisors with doctoral degrees, including 11 professors, 18 associate professors and 11 lecturers. The student-teacher ratio is about 3.88: 1.

2. Research Projects
In the past five years, the school has undertaken 14 projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and won 25 awards including the Outstanding Achievement Award of the National Social Science Foundation of China, the Outstanding Achievement Award of Humanities and Social Sciences in Colleges and Universities Nationwide, and the Outstanding Achievement Award in Social Sciences. Teachers of our school have published more than 40 books of various types and over 179 papers, of which 154 papers are included in core journals.
3. Teaching Achievements
(1) Exploration of Entrepreneurial Software Talent Training Mode Based on Software Factory presided over by Zhong Yuansheng won the first prize of the 16th Jiangxi Teaching Achievement Award (a total of four in the university).
(2) Internet + Innovation and Entrepreneurship Methods was approved to apply for the national first-class social practice course (the only one in the university) in 2019.
(3) Mobile E-Commerce was approved as Xinyi teaching material (a total of seven in the university) in 2019 .
(4) Xie Liang won the National Excellent Instructor of the 13th Challenge Cup.
(5) Zhong Yuansheng won the 5th Education Achievement Award.
IV. International Cooperation and Exchange
With an open mind, the school has actively promoted international exchange and cooperation and established partnerships with the University of Oulu in Finland, Dalarna University in Sweden and the University of Essex in the UK. In 2015, it was approved by the Ministry of Education to hold the first Sino-foreign cooperative project for undergraduates (Software Engineering) of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics. At present, 180 students have been enrolled in four grades: 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019. The school has initially established a team of teachers with international standards through such measures as increasing the introduction of returned talents and expanding the channels for teachers to study abroad. Additionally, through making full use of the government-funded platform for studying abroad and establishing the incentive system of foreign language examination scholarships, the school encourages outstanding students to study and exchange in overseas universities, so as to expand their international visions, enhance their ability to meet the challenges of globalization, and become innovative and high-level talents with hands-on skills.
