From April 22 to 25, 2026, Associate Professor Hong Lumin, Vice Dean of the JUFE School of Sociology and Humanities, and Ms. Chen Xianying attended the international symposium on “Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Language, Media and Cross-Communication Disciplinary Development” at New Era University College in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. During the visit, they also visited UCSI University to engage in in-depth discussions regarding collaborative opportunities with local experts.
At the symposium, Hong Lumin delivered a keynote presentation titled “The Chinese Language Union and Global Governance: Resource Sharing and Collaborative Development of Digital Platforms”, offering unique insights into the global allocation and governance mechanisms of Chinese education resources in the digital age. Meanwhile, Chen X ianying presented her paper, “The Disappearing Boundaries: The Re-interweaving of Human-Machine and Personal Communication in the Converged Media Environment”, which analyzed the reshaping of communication dynamics through media convergence and drew significant interest from attending scholars.


Following the presentations, the delegation led by Hong Lumin held a formal meeting with the leadership of New Era University College, including Vice Chancellor Dr. Zheng Shibin, Assistant Dean Liao Xiaowen, and other senior officials.
The two sides engaged in an in-depth exchange of views and reached a preliminary consensus on collaborative research, joint curriculum development, and international academic initiatives. To conclude the visit, Hong and Zheng exchanged institutional gifts, expressing a shared commitment to deepening the partnership and fostering mutual growth.


During their visit to UCSI University, the two faculty members engaged in productive dialogues with a group of distinguished representatives, including Professor Mohamed Osman, Vice Dean of the International College; Professor Eric Chan Weiqiang, Program Director; Professor Chan Yongcai, Head of Transnational Education; and Mr. Heisen Heyang, Head of the Global Engagement Office. The discussions centered on key strategic areas such as joint education programs, disciplinary development, and collaborative research. This exchange has further broadened the institution’s international academic horizons and paved the way for future cooperation.
This visit serves as a strategic initiative to advance educational cooperation under the “Belt and Road” Initiative and to internationalize the university’s cultural exchanges. It also represents a practical step for the School of Sociology and Humanities JUFE to enhance its global influence in the fields of International Chinese Education and Communication. Looking ahead, the university remains committed to encouraging faculty members to “go global”, fostering high-level international academic dialogues to drive the institution’s high-quality development.
