University leaders in attendance included Mr. Liu Yaobin, Chairman of JUFE, as well as Vice Presidents Yuan Honglin and He Danjun. More than 300 faculty members and students participated in the event and attended the keynote lecture.

In his welcoming remarks, Mr. Liu Yaobin, Chairman of JUFE, extended a warm welcome to Ms. Carrie Lam on behalf of JUFE. He noted that the event represents an important initiative in advancing patriotic education and implementing the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education. It also serves as a valuable platform for promoting intellectual exchange and emotional resonance between young people from the mainland and Hong Kong, with the aim of guiding faculty members and students to develop a profound understanding of the core principles of “One Country, Two Systems.” Mr. Liu further remarked that Ms. Carrie Lam, as a steadfast advocate, witness, practitioner, and promoter of the “One Country, Two Systems” principle, offers through her personal experience a vivid and instructive example for the audience to gain deeper insight into its successful implementation. He emphasized that the event and related exchanges have effectively strengthened mutual understanding and emotional connections between young people in Jiangxi and Hong Kong, thereby injecting strong momentum into the high-quality economic and social development of both regions.

In her keynote address entitled “Upholding and Improving the Practice of ‘One Country, Two Systems’ in Hong Kong,” Ms. Carrie Lam provided a comprehensive exposition on the critical importance of fully and faithfully implementing the “One Country, Two Systems” principle to ensure Hong Kong’s long-term prosperity and stability. Drawing on historical context, practical experience, and personal reflections, she noted that the report to the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China underscores that “One Country, Two Systems” represents the best institutional arrangement for maintaining Hong Kong’s enduring prosperity and stability, and must be adhered to unwaveringly over the long term.
Ms. Lam further stated that during her tenure as the fifth Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Hong Kong faced the most complex and severe challenges since its return to the motherland. Under the strong leadership and full support of the Central Government, the HKSAR Government exercised governance in strict accordance with the Constitution of the People’s Republic of China and the Basic Law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, facilitating a major transition in Hong Kong society from chaos to order, and from stability to prosperity.
She also expressed full confidence in Hong Kong’s future, emphasizing that the city will continue to leverage its distinctive advantage of being “backed by the motherland and connected to the world,” while proactively integrating into the overall national development framework. During the lecture, Ms. Lam introduced a range of talent attraction initiatives launched by the HKSAR Government and warmly welcomed students of JUFE to pursue further study, career opportunities, and professional development in Hong Kong.

The lecture hall was filled to capacity, with faculty members and students listening attentively throughout and responding with sustained rounds of applause. During the interactive Q&A session, students actively engaged in discussion and posed thoughtful questions. Ms. Carrie Lam commended the students for their critical thinking and intellectual curiosity, and encouraged them to seize the opportunities of the times. She expressed her expectation that students of JUFE will, in an increasingly complex and dynamic global environment, focus on the flexible application of knowledge, cultivate a strong spirit of teamwork, and uphold sound values, thereby contributing their youthful strength to safeguarding national security and prosperity and to promoting the long-term stability and prosperity of Hong Kong.

At the conclusion of the event, Mr. Liu Yaobin, on behalf of JUFE, presented a commemorative gift to Ms. Carrie Lam. A student representative from Hong Kong also presented her with a bouquet of flowers.
