JUFE Key Laboratory of Data Science in Finance and Economics Selected for the Second Batch of Philosophy and Social Sciences Laboratories of the Ministry of Education

Recently, the Ministry of Education released the list of the second batch of Philosophy and Social Sciences Laboratories, with 25 universities nationwide selected. Among them, JUFE's Financial Data Science Laboratory was successfully approved, becoming the only university laboratory in Jiangxi Province to be selected this time. This achievement not only marks the national recognition of JUFE's efforts in the interdisciplinary integration of philosophy and social sciences, data science, and artificial intelligence but also injects key momentum into JUFE's development of world class universities and academic disciplines. It serves as an important milestone for JUFE to take root in Jiangxi and serve national strategies.

It is reported that the Ministry of Education established the first batch of 30 Philosophy and Social Sciences Laboratories in 2021. The launch of the second batch this time is guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. By empowering interdisciplinary joint research through new technologies such as big data and artificial intelligence, it aims to enhance the innovation capacity of knowledge, theories, and methods in philosophy and social sciences. It also seeks to accelerate the construction of China's independent knowledge system and provide academic support and educational achievements for building a strong country and realizing national rejuvenation.

As a key university in Jiangxi Province, JUFE has always been guided by JUFE's motto "Honesty, Vitality, Integrity, Tenacity". It has leveraged its advantages in economics, management, and law disciplines and designated statistics as the remarkable results in discipline development. In recent years, JUFE has proactively aligned with the digital economy development strategy. In April 2022, it integrated the strengths of superior disciplines such as statistics, computer science and technology, and applied economics to establish the Key Laboratory of Data Science in Finance and Economics. Closely focusing on major national needs such as macroeconomic governance, regional financial security, and rural revitalization, the laboratory has gathered national-level leading talents, provincial high-level talents, and internationally renowned scholars to form multiple high-level interdisciplinary research teams. It has successively been approved as the Jiangxi Key Laboratory of Financial Data Science and two provincial academician workstations, laying a solid foundation for its promotion to the Ministry of Education-level laboratory this time.

The research team of JUFE Key Laboratory of Data Science in Finance and Economics has focused on characteristic research areas and achieved remarkable results: It has carried out the construction of an independent knowledge system for contemporary national situation studies and developed a data research platform for the field, with the achievements winning the First Class Award in the 9th Outstanding Achievements in Scientific Research in Institutions of Higher Education (Humanities and Social Sciences) awarded by the Ministry of Education. It has jointly built the CEInet Macroeconomic Monitoring & Forecasting System with Academy of Macroeconomic Research, providing digital and intelligent support for national macroeconomic governance. In cooperation with the Jiangxi Provincial Local Financial Supervision Bureau, it has built a financial risk monitoring and early warning platform, whose related achievements have received positive instructions from provincial leaders. In the field of anti-poverty, it has taken the lead in implementing a major project of the National Social Science Fund, and the results have won the Statistical Science and Technology Progress Award of the National Bureau of Statistics, effectively transforming academic research into practical results serving local development.
