On the morning of October 23, JUFE Vice President Yuan Honglin led a delegation on a visit to the ASEAN-China Centre to engage in in-depth discussions regarding area studies and cooperation. The delegation was warmly received by Secretary-General Shi Zhongjun of the ASEAN-China Centre. In a friendly atmosphere, both parties jointly looked forward to the prospects of cooperation and explored new pathways for area studies and collaboration.

Yuan expressed his gratitude for the reception by the ASEAN-China Centre and outlined the purpose and expectations of the visit. He emphasized that JUFE places high importance on area studies and disciplinary development, having developed distinct characteristics in global comparative studies of national power, ASEAN economic and trade issues, and AI-enabled social governance in ASEAN. Noting that ASEAN is China's largest trading partner and a priority in its neighborhood diplomacy, Yuan highlighted that the ASEAN-China Centre is an intergovernmental organization jointly established by China and the ten ASEAN member states, playing a significant role in promoting China-ASEAN trade, investment, and people-to-people exchanges. He expressed the hope that through in-depth cooperation with the ASEAN-China Centre, JUFE could further strengthen its area studies and think tank development, actively serving national strategies and the needs of Jiangxi Province for high-level opening up.

Shi Zhongjun extended a sincere welcome to Vice President Yuan Honglin and the delegation, providing a brief introduction to the Centre's establishment background, development history, and achievements. He pointed out that ASEAN holds an important position in China's neighborhood diplomacy, and China-ASEAN integration is accelerating. This process is full of opportunities but also faces numerous risks and challenges, necessitating more practical and grounded research, particularly strengthened field investigations to propose targeted policy recommendations. He stated that JUFE possesses unique features in area studies, especially the significant value of its research focused on ASEAN economic issues. He expressed willingness to explore appropriate forms of cooperation to work together with the university in serving the building of a China-ASEAN community with a shared future. Wu Chaoyang, Dean of the Institute of Area Studies, and Professor Zhang Xifeng accompanied the delegation on the visit.
