I. Overview

Formerly known as the Department of Industrial Economics founded in 1979, the School of Business Administration officially changed its name from the Department of Business Administration, as it became known in 1992, to what it is now in 1998.

The school maintains the mission of integrating the management wisdom of China and the West in order to educate business elites with social responsibility and envisions becoming a leader of Management Education in China. With four decades of development, it has achieved fruitful results in talent training, teaching staff construction, scientific research, international cooperation, social services, etc.

 

II. Faculty

The school has 107 faculty members in total, with 87 full-time teachers, including 24 professors, 36 associate professors, 17 doctoral supervisors, and 67 master supervisors. 75% of teachers obtained their doctoral degrees and 52% of teachers went abroad for study or academic exchange. In addition, it accommodatingly introduced 3 foreign professors.

2. Introduction of Bachelors Programs

Business Administration

 (1) Talent Cultivation Goals: This program aims to cultivate innovative and entrepreneurial talents who meet the needs of socio-economic development and China's modernization construction in the 21st century, systematically master the basic theories, knowledge, and skills of management and economics, are familiar with the basic methods, rules, policies, and regulations of business management, hold a strong ability to analyze and solve operations and management problems in business enterprises and non-profit organizations, are able to engage in management in enterprises, public institutions, and government agencies with an international vision, and have the qualities of “Honesty, Vitality, Integrity, and Tenacity”.

 (2) Talent Cultivation Features: This program focuses on the cultivation model combining basic theories with practical skills and places emphasis on the curriculum system design and setup aimed at training students' innovation and entrepreneurship capabilities.

 (3) Length of Schooling and Awarding of Degrees: This school implements  credit-based system and uniformly carries out the basic length of schooling of four years, with a flexible learning period of 3-6 years. Those who meet the degree requirements shall be awarded a bachelors degree in management.

Marketing

(1) Talent Cultivation Goals: This program aims to cultivate innovative and entrepreneurial talents who possess solid professional knowledge and management skills in modern marketing, hold marketing practical skills, have a good command of a foreign language and computer literacy, are able to engage in management in enterprises, public institutions, and government agencies with an international vision, and have the qualities of Honesty, Vitality, Integrity, and Tenacity”.

(2) Length of Schooling and Awarding of Degrees: This school implements  credit-based system and uniformly carries out the basic length of schooling of four years, with a flexible learning period of 3-6 years. Those who meet the degree requirements shall be awarded a bachelors degree in management.

Human Resource Management

(1) Talent Cultivation Goals: This program aims to cultivate innovative and entrepreneurial talents in the new era who have a comprehensive development of morality, intelligence, physical fitness, and aesthetics, meet the needs of socio-economic development, possess the basic knowledge, theories, and skills of management, economics, and law related to human resource management, are able to engage in human resource management in domestic and foreign enterprises, public institutions, and government agencies with an international vision, and have the qualities of Honesty, Vitality, Integrity, and Tenacity”.

(2) Talent Cultivation Features: The school adheres to the training mode of six matches, that is, the major construction matches the social needs of talents, the teaching content matches the international and domestic standards, the academic education matches the vocational qualification education, the job characteristics of human resource management match the comprehensive qualities of students, the advanced theories match practices, and the teaching content matches the development of the times.

Logistics Management

(1) Talent Cultivation Goals: This program aims to cultivate innovative and entrepreneurial talents in logistics management who have a comprehensive development of morality, intelligence, physical fitness, and aesthetics, meet the needs of socio-economic development, possess the basic knowledge of economy, management, information, and system science related to logistics management and engineering, master the basic theories and skills of logistics management and supply chain management, are able to engage in logistics management, logistics system planning and design, logistics operation, and other related work in domestic and foreign logistics companies, manufacturing companies, commercial circulation companies, financial institutions, ports, and governments, and have the qualities of Honesty, Vitality, Integrity, and Tenacity”.

(2) Talent Cultivation Features: The school strengthens the cultivation of innovative and entrepreneurial medium and high-caliber talents under the large-scale enrollment model, pays attention to the training of comprehensive application and practical abilities, and highlights the cultivation of an international perspective and scientific research and innovation abilities.

International Marketing

(1) Talent Cultivation Goals: This program aims to cultivate innovative and entrepreneurial talents in international marketing management who have a comprehensive development of morality, intelligence, physical fitness, and aesthetics, meet the needs of socio-economic development, possess the basic knowledge of economy, management, and law related to international marketing, master the basic theories and skills of international marketing, are able to engage in international marketing management in domestic and foreign enterprises, public institutions, and government agencies, and have the qualities of Honesty, Vitality, Integrity, and Tenacity”.

(2) Talent Cultivation Features: The school persists in the cultivation features of solid foundation and broad employment, building a solid foundation in the first two years and improving professional education, professional skills, and English level as well as international vision in the next two years. It carries out personalized training in accordance with student needs and focuses on students' abilities in innovation, entrepreneurship, and professional practice.

Logistics Management (Academic Master’s Degree)

(1) Talent Cultivation Goals: This program aims to cultivate senior and compound professionals in logistics management who have a comprehensive development of morality, intelligence, physical fitness, and aesthetics, meet the needs of socio-economic development, are familiar with the basic theory of logistics and supply chain management, systematically possess the theoretical knowledge, skills and scientific methods of logistics management and are capable of solving theoretical and practical problems related to logistics system planning, design and optimization.

MBA (Professional Master’s Degree)

(1) Talent Cultivation Goals: This program aims to cultivate versatile and applied middle and high-level management talents with broad vision, profound knowledge, innovative thinking and pioneering spirit. They will be proficient in communication and cooperation, and be able to engage in business enterprise management in an economic globalization environment.

(2) Cultivation Methods:

 The school adopts the credit-based system. Students can obtain the required credits and write the graduation thesis after completing the specified courses within the prescribed time, and passing all exams. Students can receive a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree after completing a thesis oral defense.

 The school adopts student-centered heuristic teaching and case teaching. The teaching content must integrate theory with practice, and attach importance to training students' independent thinking ability, innovative ability, analytical ability and  problem-solving skills. A certain number of cases should be arranged for each course to cultivate students' analytical ability and problem-solving skills through case discussion.

 Students' academic performance should be comprehensively evaluated on the basis of examination scores, assignments, class discussions, case analysis, and special reports. Students can obtain credits when they have a score of 75 or above in degree courses and 60 or above in other courses.

(3) Courses:

IV. Talent Cultivation Achievements

1. Joint Talent Cultivation Projects

The Global Operations Management Interdisciplinary and Innovative Talents Training Project is the first international cooperative training project for innovative talents approved by China Scholarship Council (CSC). With the full funding of CSC, the school works closely with Aalborg University (AAU) in Denmark on the three aspects of doctoral study, co-cultivation of PhD candidates, and the academic exchange of visiting scholars, and jointly trains PhD candidates and young scholars proficient in global operations management with it. Up to now, a total of six teachers have visited AAU or carried out academic exchanges there. One teacher was recommended by AAU to visit the University of Aarhus (AU) in Denmark and a total of four doctoral students, postgraduates, and undergraduates from our school (through the international exchange project for excellent undergraduates of CSC) went to AAU for exchange study.

 2. Awards

In recent years, the student teams of our school have won 94 national and provincial group awards, 180 students have received national-level individual awards, and 374 students have obtained provincial-level individual awards. Among them, undergraduates of the school won a place in the worlds top eight in the 19th NIBS (Network of International Business Schools) International Business Case Competition held in the United Kingdom, becoming the only Chinese team to win the award, and the only university in Chinese mainland to enter the global final of this competition for three consecutive years.

3. Student Publications and Patents

In the past five years, students of all majors in our school have published more than 500 papers in various journals and obtained more than 60 patents.

4. Graduate Cultivation

(1) Postgraduates: In the past three years, a total of 77 students were recruited, including 72 from Chinese mainland and 5 from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan. Among the 63 graduates, 62 postgraduates are from Chinese mainland and one from Hong Kong.

(2) Doctoral Students: In the past three years, a total of 54 students were recruited, including 30 from Chinese mainland and 24 from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan.

5. Outstanding Alumni

(1) Zheng Yuewen, chairman of the board of directors of Creat Group Co., Ltd., graduated from Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics with a doctorate in Finance in 1985. He is currently a member of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC, the vice chairman of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, the vice chairman of China Civil Chamber of Commerce, the chairman of China International Chamber of Commerce for the Private Sector, a specially-invited inspector of the Ministry of Supervision of the People's Republic of China, an executive member of China Glory Society, an executive vice chairman of China Private Science and Technology Industrialists Association, a special adviser of China-Africa Business Council, the chairman of Jiangxi Federation of Merchants and the chairman of Beijing-Jiangxi Enterprise Chamber of Commerce.

(2) Zhang Heqing, chairman of Suzhou Heji Investment Co., Ltd. and one of the most influential private entrepreneurs in the industry of venture capital investment in Suzhou, graduated from the Industrial Economics Department of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics in 1988 and served successively as the deputy director of the Accounting Department of Suzhou Municipal Finance Bureau, the executive vice president of Suzhou High-tech Venture Capital Company, and the general manager of Suzhou Yingcai Investment Group Company.

(3) Jiang Long, secretary of the leading Party group and supervisor of the Tianjin Financial Supervision Commissioner Office of the Ministry of Finance, was elected as the representative of the 17th Tianjin People's Congress in January 2019.

(4) Zhang Fuqing, who has obtained a bachelors degree in economics, a masters degree in management and a doctorate in science, is a researcher, lawyer, nationally registered consulting engineer, a candidate of the Hundred-Thousand-Ten Thousand Talents Project in Jiangxi Province, a professor at Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, and an expert of China National Association of Engineering Consultants. He graduated from Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics in 1990 and then worked in Yingtan Municipal Government in 2014. He successively served as a member of the Standing Committee of Yingtan Municipal Party Committee, deputy mayor of Yingtan City, secretary of Guixi Municipal Party Committee, and executive deputy mayor of Guixi City. In March 2019, he worked as a member of the leading Party group and deputy director of the Department of Civil Affairs of Jiangxi Province.

(5) Zhang Lijiang, majored in the management of industrial enterprises in Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics since 1992, is the founder and chairman of Ebidding and chairman of PDP China. He is also an expert of China Tendering and Bidding Association and China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing. He was an outstanding lawyer of Beijing Dentons (Shanghai) Law Firm.

(6) Tan Pingyuan, a member of the Communist Party of China and graduated from the major of business administration and human resources in JUFE in 1994,  holds an MBA from Nanjing University. He is also the chairman of Jiangsu Suying Technology Group Co., Ltd., a senior economist, the vice chairman of Jiangsu Association of Employment Promotion, the vice chairman of Jiangsu Human Resources Consulting Association, a specially-appointed professor of Nanjing Audit University, a judge of senior titles of human resources in Jiangsu province, the vice chairman of the National Alumni Association of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, and the chairman of Nanjing Alumni Association.

VI. Teaching and Research Achievements

The school has successfully undertaken 33 projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and 25 (including one major bidding project and one key project) by the National Social Science Foundation of China. In the past five years, 42 monographs, 36 textbooks, and nearly 300 Chinese and English papers have been published and some research results have received positive remarks by leaders of Jiangxi province. At present, the school owns one national excellent course, one national excellent resource-sharing course, one national excellent open video course, one national excellent open online course and 18 provincial excellent courses. Additionally, 16 cases of Jiangxi enterprises published in Harvard Business Publishing and Ivey Publishing were awarded as “China’s Top 100 Selected Management Cases”, which places the school at the top of the list in not only Jiangxi province but also China. The teaching achievements around the cases have won the first prize at the provincial level twice.


VII. International Cooperation and Exchange

The school has carried out multi-level cooperation with more than 20 foreign universities and research institutions. It co-founded the Digital Enablement Research Network (DERN) with the University of New South Wales and other partners, hosting a seminar on Structured-Pragmatic-Situational (SPS) case study methods every year. It launched the Sino-American MBA program in collaboration with New York Institute of Technology in the United States and nearly 2000 international senior managers have been trained in the past 21 years. In addition, the cooperative project focusing on international cooperative research, joint cultivation of students, and exchanges of teachers with the University of Aalborg in Denmark has been fully funded by the China Scholarship Council. Moreover, the school received CAMEA certification in 2017, and the memberships of BGA and AACSB in 2019.
