I. Overview

The School of Marxism Studies was established in July 2009, formerly known as the Marxist-Leninist Teaching Department founded in 1990. The doctoral program of the first-level discipline of Marxist Theory and the postdoctoral research station of Marxist Theory were approved in 2018 and 2019 respectively.

II. Faculty

The school currently has 56 faculty members, with 51 full-time teachers, including 14 professors, 34 teachers with doctorates, 12 doctoral supervisors, 3 postdoctoral co-tutors, and 25 master supervisors. There are two teachers enjoying the special government allowances of the State Council, one national cultural master, one member of the Ideological and Political Theory Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education, one role model in ideological and political theory, one candidate of the New Century Excellent Talents Support Program of the Ministry of Education, one teacher enjoying the special allowance of the People’s Government of Jiangxi Province, two candidates of the “Jiangxi Talents 555 Project”, one director of the Jiangxi “Outline” Class Teaching Steering Committee, one candidate of the Hundred-Thousand-Ten Thousand Talents Project in Jiangxi Province, one winner of the College Young Teacher Award of the Fok Ying Tung Education Foundation, three young and middle-aged academic leaders of Jiangxi province, one talent of the Jiangxi “Four Batches” Project, one winner of Jiangxi “May 4th Youth Medal”, two top ten teachers in Jiangxi ideological and political theory, three famous teachers in Jiangxi ideological and political education, and one academic backbone of Jiangxi scientific research.

2. Talent Cultivation Goals

Possessing firm beliefs in Marxism and socialism, developing comprehensively in morality, intelligence, physical fitness, and aesthetics, understanding the classics of Marxism, holding a deep theoretical foundation and professional knowledge of Marxism, making good use of Marxist positions, viewpoints, and methods to study and analyze real social problems, having strong innovative ability, and becoming specialized backbones in scientific research, higher education, and practical departments of the Party and government.

3. Length of Schooling and Awarding of Degrees

The lengths of schooling for doctoral and master students are 3-6 years and 3-4 years respectively.

VI. Teaching and Research Achievements

In the past five years, teachers of our school have won 11 prizes, including first prizes, second prizes and third prizes of Jiangxi Outstanding Achievement Award in Social Sciences. Moreover, teachers in this school have published 16 books and more than 300 papers, including over 100 papers in CSSCI.

VII. International Cooperation and Exchange

Foreign experts have been invited to come to the university for academic exchange. Many foreign professors from different universities have given lectures, attended meetings, and offered short-term courses for postgraduate students, such as Universitt Erfurt in Germany, Cleveland State University in Ohio, Western Washington University, Nagasaki Prefectural University in Japan, etc.

Additionally, some teachers of our school have been sent to study, train, and exchange abroad. They have successively visited universities and made academic reports abroad at schools including Lodz University in Poland, University of Nottingham in the UK, Northern Arizona University in the USA, and other universities in Canada, Singapore, and Australia.
