Prof. Wu Xiaoqiu Appointed as Academic Advisor and General Supervisor of Applied Economics Discipline of JUFE

On the afternoon of April 25, JUFEl held an appointment ceremony to hire Professor Wu Xiaoqiu, a famous financier, a national-level professor, the former vice president of Renmin University of China, and the convenor of the Applied Economics Discipline Review Group, to serve as the academic advisor of JUFE, and the general director of Applied Economics. Member of the provincial education working committee, deputy director of the Provincial Department of Education, Wang Lixia, Chairman of JUFE, Liu Yaobin, President Deng Hui and leaders at home attended the ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Vice President Que Shandong.

Wu Xiaoqiu said that the appointment is both an honor and a responsibility. As a 1979 alumnus of JUFE, he recalled his school years with emotion and thanked his alma mater for sowing the seeds of academic ideals. He advocates interest-driven research, opposes utilitarianism in academic research, emphasizes the importance of teamwork in the process of discipline development, and calls on teachers and students to seek common development with a pure heart, so that academics return to the essence of research. He believes that the development of the discipline of applied economics should be adapted to the development needs of national major strategies, keep pace with the times, and connect with the world's first-class level. In the future, he will share his experience in governance, help JUFE build a talent echelon, create a harmonious academic ecology, promote the deep connection between academia and industrial needs, and deliver innovative results with both theoretical depth and practical wisdom for the national strategy.

At the appointment ceremony, Liu Yaobin awarded the certificate of appointment to Prof. Wu Xiaoqiu. Prof. Wu Xiaoqiu donated five sets of his academic work The Theoretical Logic of China's Capital Market (10 volumes) to JUFE library to help the JUFE's discipline construction and the growth of young students.

Deng Hui said in his speech that academic advisors and general guidance of disciplines are "think tanks" and "navigators" for the high-quality development of JUFE. As a benchmark figure in China's finance industry, Prof. Wu's appointment will have a far-reaching impact on JUFE in the key stage of "double first-class" and deepening the reform of integrating education, science and technology talents, and will bring about far-reaching impact in the three dimensions of strengthening the leading force of disciplines, activating the driving force of innovation, and uniting the centripetal force of alumni.
