On September 16, a ceremony was held to inaugurate the School of Information Management and Mathematics and the School of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence. Professor Chen Xilin, director of the Institute of Computing Technology at the Chinese Academy of Sciences; Professor Mei Guoping, former president of Jiangxi Normal University; Professor Shi Guangming, deputy director of Pengcheng Laboratory; Professor Du Jianqiang, vice president of Nanchang University; Professor Ouyang Zhigang, vice president of East China Jiaotong University; Professor Xiong Hui, associate vice president of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou); Professor Xiao Nong, dean of the School of Computer Science and Engineering at Sun Yat-sen University; Professor Xiong Hongkai from Shanghai Jiao Tong University; and Professor Peng Yuxin from Peking University, among other experts, were invited to attend the ceremony. JUFE’s leaders Liu Yaobin, Deng Hui, Yuan Xiong, Que Shandong, Yuan Honglin, Li Chungen, and Fang Yuming were present at the event. Fang Yuming hosted the ceremony. Representatives from various functional departments, school leaders, and faculty members from the School of Information Management and Mathematics and the School of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence also participated in the ceremony.
Principal Deng Hui stated that the decision to split the School of Information Management into the School of Information Management and Mathematics and the School of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence is an "important step" in response to the development needs of the "Artificial Intelligence +" era and serves the strategy of Digital China. It is also a "crucial move" to break down institutional barriers and comprehensively deepen reforms, as well as an "important journey" to promote the "three major transformations." The establishment of the two schools is significant for optimizing the discipline layout, cultivating top innovative talents, and streamlining management systems. He hopes that the School of Information Management and Mathematics and the School of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence will fully leverage their disciplinary and talent advantages, strengthen interdisciplinary integration, support high-level technological self-reliance and self-improvement, and cultivate outstanding innovative talents in the fields of information and artificial intelligence with distinct financial characteristics.
Subsequently, Professor Chen Xilin, Director of the Institute of Computing Technology at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Du Jianqiang, Vice President of Nanchang University, and Professor Ouyang Zhigang, Vice President of East China Jiaotong University, delivered speeches as guest representatives. Professor Fang Zhijun, Dean of the School of Computer Science and Technology at Donghua University, spoke on behalf of the alumni.
