Lectures——The Current/Changing State of the Finance Profession

Lecturer:Dr Jeffrey Stangl, Director International and Strategic Partnerships, Massey Business School; Executive Director, CFA Society of New Zealand

Jeff holds degrees in Economics from the University of California and an MBA from The American Graduate School (Thunderbird). Jeff has a PhD from Massey University in investments and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).

Jeff’s career traverses business and academia. The focus of Jeff’s 25 year business career, prior to joining Massey in 2004, was start-up innovative companies, with broad experience in all aspects of business development and financial management. His most recent business entailed the manufacture of giftware with worldwide sales based in Indonesia. Jeff is very active in the finance community, serving as president and director of CFA Society New Zealand for 9 years. As an academic, Jeff’s prior international business and investment experience largely dictate his research direction. His research encompasses the interface between academia and the finance sector. Jeff’s research passions lie with building financial capability and improving investor education. He was a founding Board Member for the Westpac/Massey University Financial Education and Research Centre. Jeff has been a keen supporter of Young Enterprise, acting as a judge for many Dragons Den events and in recent years has also been a judge for the Westpac Business Excellence Awards and North West Country Business Awards. Jeff has an engaging speaking style and presents regularly on investing and financial literacy.
