JUFE Delegation Visited Three Australian Universities

From December 10th to 14th, JUFE Vice President Yuan Honglin led a delegation to visit three Australian universities, including the University of Technology Sydney, Macquarie University, and Griffith University. The purpose of the visit was to discuss educational cooperation projects and promote the international development of JUFE. During the visit, members of the delegation also visited some alumni who are working and studying in Australia. Representatives from the School of Accountancy, the School of Statistics and Data Science, and the School of Information Management accompanied the delegation.



On the morning of December 11th, Yuan Honglin held a meeting with Professor Iain Watt, the Vice President of the University of Technology Sydney, and other relevant academic leaders. The University of Technology Sydney is a renowned public research university located in Sydney, Australia. It was ranked as a five-star university in the latest 2024 QS World University Rankings, placing 90th globally. Additionally, it was ranked 112th in the 2023 US News World University Rankings and 133rd in the 2023 Times Higher Education World University Rankings.

 

The two sides had in-depth discussions on undergraduate joint training programs, including 2+2 and 3.5+1.5 models, as well as aspects such as joint graduate training, collaborative research paper publications, and joint project applications. Consensus was reached, and a project cooperation agreement was signed. The two universities will further deepen their cooperation within the framework of the agreement in the future.

 


On the afternoon of December 11th, the team visited Macquarie University and held discussions with Professor Simon Handley, the Vice President, and other department heads. Macquarie University, named after Lachlan Macquarie, known as The Father of Australia, was established in 1964. It is a public research university located in Macquarie Park, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. In the 2024 QS World University Rankings, Macquarie University is ranked 130th globally, and it is ranked 175th in the 2023 Times Higher Education World University Rankings.

 

During the meeting, Yuan Honglin expressed that in the context of the new era, JUFE is focusing on three transformational goals and hopes that this visit will further deepen the exchange and visits between the faculty and students of the two universities and promote the collaboration process. Both parties had in-depth discussions on cooperative education and scientific research in the fields of intelligent accounting, statistics, and information science, and signed a memorandum of cooperation.

 


On the morning of December 12th, the delegation and some alumni working and studying in Australia, as well as doctoral students interested in joining JUFE, held a meeting. They were briefed on the basic development of JUFE. Yuan Honglin expressed that the work of alumni is crucial to the development of JUFE, thanked the alumni for their valuable suggestions, and hoped that Australian alumni would continue to support the development of their alma mater in recruiting high-level talent, promoting talent cultivation, and expanding cultural exchanges. The alumni expressed deep pride in the centennial achievements of their alma mater and stated that they would closely follow and strongly support its development. They pledged to actively empower the university's development and showcase the image of JUFE through their own growth, contributing to the promotion of Sino-Australian educational and cultural exchanges.

 


On the morning of December 13th, Yuan Honglin led the delegation to hold in-depth discussions with Professor Liz Burd, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Griffith University, and relevant department heads. Griffith University was founded in 1971 and is the third comprehensive university located in Brisbane, the capital of Queensland. The university has 46 departments and covers 10 fields of study: arts, business, education, engineering and information technology, health, law and criminology, music, natural and built environments, science, and visual and creative arts. Griffith University is a four-star university in Australia and is ranked 243rd in the 2023 QS World University Rankings.

 

During the meeting, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Liz Burd highly appreciated the cooperation between the two universities and expressed her commitment to continuously promoting the deepening of collaboration in various fields and levels. Both parties had in-depth discussions on joint graduate training, as well as conducting scientific research cooperation.

 


On the afternoon of December 13th, the delegation held a meeting with Consul General Ruan Zongze of the Chinese Consulate General in Brisbane. Consul General Ruan welcomed and expressed support for the educational exchanges between JUFE and Griffith University, among others, during their visit to Australia. Both parties exchanged views on strengthening cooperation between JUFE and Australian, particularly Queensland, universities in talent development, joint scientific research, and student and faculty exchanges.

 

Through this visit, academic ties between JUFE and the aforementioned Australian universities have been further strengthened, and alumni resources in Australia have been better united and consolidated, enhancing JUFE's visibility among Australian universities.
