Go World Champion Luo Xihe Appointed as Visiting Professor of JUFE

On the morning of December 9, JUFE held an appointment ceremony and appointed Luo Xihe, the world champion of Go, as a visiting professor of the university. President Deng Hui, Vice President Yuan Xiong, President of the Alumni Association Wang Qiao, Executive Director and Secretary General of Shenzhen Alumni Association Zhan Weijia, and Executive Director of Shenzhen Alumni Association of JUFE Zhuang Yongjian attended the ceremony. Deng Hui issued a certificate of appointment for Luo Xihe, and Wang Qiao presented a souvenir to Luo Xihe.

In his speech, Yuan Xiong expressed his warm congratulations to Luo Xihe. He pointed out that Go has been regarded as one of the four friends of the literati since ancient times, which contains profound traditional Chinese culture, and in a sense, Go is a specimen and a symbol of Chinese thought and culture. The activity of Go masters on campus will be of great significance in promoting the development of sports at JUFE and enriching the sports culture on campus.

Mr. Zhan Weijia pointed out that as one of the activities of Shenzhen Alumni Association to celebrate the centennial anniversary of the alma mater, he hoped to promote the vigorous development of the game of Go in JUFE. Mr. Zhuang Yongjian, Executive Director of Shenzhen Alumni Association, said that the influence of JUFE Go is becoming more and more far-reaching, and he hoped that through the platform of Go exchange tournament, teachers and students can feel the wisdom and power of Chinese traditional culture more deeply.

Professor Luo Xihe felt both honored and responsible for the appointment as a professor of JUFE . In the future, he will do his best to help the development of Go in JUFE and make his due contribution to the Go career of JUFE with practical actions.

The ceremony was hosted by Xu Xuchuan, dean of the School of Physical Education. Relevant functional departments of the university, school, some alumni of the Shenzhen Alumni Association, representatives of teachers and students of the Go Association, and representatives of teachers and students of the High School affiliated to JUFE attended the ceremony.

Luo Xihe is a famous Go player and World Champion of Go, he learned Go at the age of 6 and joined the National Junior Go Team at the age of 10, he was promoted to Professional Junior Duan in 1989, and to Professional Ninth Duan in 2002. In 2000,he was the champion of the National Go Tournament and won the World Championship of the 10th Samsung Cup World Open BadukTournament in 2006 by defeating South Korea's Lee Chang-ho Ninth Duan. He was a consultant of Tencent's AI studio Jieyi team, and is now the head coach of Shenzhen Longhua Weiqi team in China's Weiqi First Division League.
