Recently, Dr. Lv Jinpeng from the School of Accountancy had his research paper titled The world cup in football and the US IPO market accepted and published online by the international authoritative journal of finance, Journal of Corporate Finance. Lv Jinpeng is the joint first author of the paper and corresponding author, with all authors sorted by the first letter of their surnames. Collaborators include Sturla Lyngnes Fjesme from Oslo Metropolitan University and Professor Chander Shekhar from the University of Melbourne.
The paper investigates the impact of the World Cup on the US IPO market and finds that during the World Cup, the premium and pricing of IPOs decreased, but their long-term performance improved. These results suggest that the attention of financial markets decreases during the World Cup, and the emotions of stock investors also decrease. The paper contributes to the existing literature by expanding the study on the effect of investor sentiment on IPO premiums, supplementing the literature on behavioral biases in asset pricing, and providing empirical evidence for international financial integration.
Journal of Corporate Finance is the most authoritative academic journal in the field of corporate finance, aiming to publish high-quality theoretical and empirical papers in the areas of corporate finance and corporate governance.
