The 36th Sports Meeting of JUFE opened

    In the brilliant sunshine on 13 October, the 36th sports meeting of JUFE solemnly opened in the north Jiaoqiao Campus. School leaders Qiao Wang, Xiaoming Yi, Jinfa Jiang, JianlinYang, Hui Deng, Shandong Que, and Liangzhi Li attended the opening ceremony. The host of the ceremony was Jianlin Yang, secretary of Committee for Discipline Inspection of JUFE. The principal leaders of every department in our university and the secretary and deputy secretaries of the party committee in every school also attended the opening ceremony.

    The president of JUFE, Qiao Wang, announced the opening of the sports meeting. The opening ceremony started with the passionate and inspiring music “Athletes March”. With the warm applause of all audiences, 20 representative teams marched into the Arena in firm steps, resounding slogans, and neat and bright-colored clothes. Their passion and vitality interpreted the spirits of our university and showed the youthful enthusiasm of JUFE.

    The vice principal, Hui Deng, delivered the opening speech. Representing the University Sports Committee, he expressed warm congratulations for the successful opening of the sports meeting, expressed appreciation for all the hard work of staff and students, and showed respect to all the referees, coaches and athletes. He pointed out that our university has been attaching great importance to physical education over the years because a first-class university should also have a first-class physical education program. The annual sports meeting was a review of exercise levels of all the staff and students, a checkout of the mass physical education achievement in our university, a test of the competition consciousness, teamwork spirit, willpower of our staff and students, and also a comprehensive exhibition of all our university members’ mental outlooks. He indicated that all the athletes should carry forward the Olympic spirit of “Higher, faster and stronger”, comply with the principle of “friendship comes before competition”, and respect the referees, opponents, and the audiences. He also hoped that the referees will devote themselves to their duties and be fair to all athletes, and all staff members should cooperate with each other, making our sports meeting a high level event.

    Afterwards, the referee Meng Xu made an oath on behalf of all the referees. He committed to comply with the disciplines and competition rules, conform to the principle of “openness, fairness and justice”, and respect all the players in order to provide a good competition environment for the athletes.

    Keke Li made an oath as a representative of all the athletes. She committed to carry forward the Olympic spirit, be humble in victory and gracious in defeat, comply with rules, respect referees and opponents, cooperate with teammates, compete in a friendly attitude, and enhance sports skills and develop friendship with other teachers and students.

    After the opening ceremony, the aerobics competition was held.

    The sports meeting will last for three days. A total amount of 1115 athletes will take part in 46 different track and field events, and 5063 person-time will participate in 17 group events.
