“I want to learn about Chinese culture and I’d like to show more about my own, because both countries’ culture is very rich. I believe our partnership with Chinese family is the best way.” says Yesenia, an overseas student from Mexico.

In order to make students get immersed in Chinese culture during their stay in JUFE, to practice Chinese in daily life and to promote JUFE’s relationship with foreign universities, on October 15th, Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges (OICE) organized the Ceremony of Overseas Students Partnership with Chinese Family. Prof. Yi Jiangdong, JUFE’s vice president, Dr. Xiao Long, Director of OICE and Mr. Gao Yangsong, Vice Director of OICE attended this ceremony and Professor Yi awarded certificates to volunteer family in the name of JUFE.

During the ceremony, Prof. Yi said the strong ties between JUFE’s teachers and overseas students means a lot to JUFE. JUFE has been always attached great importance to internationally educational cooperation. During the past decades, aiming at accelerating the pace of, and promoting the level of internationally cooperative school-running, JUFE has been adopted a variety of approaches, including recruiting doctoral level overseas returnees, dispatching staff to undertake overseas academic visits, providing more and more opportunities for students studying abroad, inviting foreign teachers and attracting overseas students. Prof. Yi regarded this activity as an indispensable move for communicating with foreign friends and improving students’ satisfaction and he expected overseas students’ partnership with Chinese Family to be a featured activity.

After two months’ careful preparation, Office of international Coorperation and Exchange designed this project, contacted volunteer families and communicated with students. Last week, both sides meet each other and after a series of previous activities, now, a total of seven volunteer families successfully match eight foreign students.

It is learned that all the families has done a lot of preparations, such as inviting students to the voluntary families’ house, teaching them how to cook local dishes and taking them to a series of various outdoor activities. Through this featured activity, life in JUFE can be better combined with domestic lifestyle.
