An Overseas Student from JUFE Awarded the Excellence Prize in the 1st Provincial Chinese Competition

Sonya Rachel, an Austria student studying in JUFE from the ISEP program, took part in the 1st Provincial Chinese Competition for Overseas Students on Oct. 24 in Jiangxi Normal University. Though Sonya has been in China for only several months, she managed to enter into the final round and was awarded the Excellence Prize in the competition.

The competition was co-organized by the Provincial Education Department, Provincial Foreign Affairs and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, Provincial TV Station and Jiangxi Normal University. 66 overseas candidates from 14 universities in Jiangxi province took part in this competition. Their fluent Chinese self-introduction, wonderful talent shows have won the popularity from the panel of judges and the audience. The competition has been recorded by Channel four, Jiangxi TV and will be broadcasted by Provincial Satellite Channel in November.

The OICE (Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges ) has invited teachers from Humanities college: Mrs. OuYang, Mr. Ye Hui to help overseas candidates at JUFE prepare for the competition.

The OICE was also awarded the Outstanding Organization for Contributing to the Competition by the Provincial Education Department.
