On the morning of November 3rd, Professor He Canfei from Peking University presented an academic report titled The Law of Association between China's Industrial Development and Layout to our faculty and students. This lecture was hosted by Vice President Xie Hualin, andJUFE's teachers and students attended to learn and exchangeideas.

At the beginning of the lecture, Professor He Canfei took geographical proximity and cognitive proximity as the starting points, and based on the theoretical foundations of neoclassical economics and urban economics, made a rational and logical explanation of geographical proximity. Subsequently, he demonstrated through empirical analysis the knowledge spillover effects caused by geographical agglomeration within the same industry and between different industries. Professor He further pointed out that technological relatedness, also known as cognitive proximity, is a key factor affecting the efficiency of knowledge spillover, and expanded the connotation of cognitive proximity from multiple perspectives, emphasizing the active and passive mechanisms of association rules. To this end, he introduced three correlation measurement methods: system classification, input-output relationship, and co-occurrence probability, providing tools for quantitative research. Next, Professor He combined the association rule with enterprises, industries, products, regional resilience, and import and export markets, and conducted in-depth research on its widespread application in different fields and the factors that strengthen and weaken it. Finally, he summarized the theoretical value of the association rule and proposed forward-looking policy implications from the perspectives of geographical proximity and cognitive proximity, providing the audience with a direction for understanding industry associations and theoretical support for future policy formulation and practicaloperations.
