On November 17th, the Confucius Institute at Coventry University held “Chinese Corner” cultural exchange activities with the theme of Chinese traditional chess and cards. The Chinese students introduced various and interesting Chinese traditional chess cards to the international students, such as Mahjong, Xiangqi and FIR（Five in a Row）. After several rounds of exploration, the international students have a deeper understanding of traditional Chinese games and show strong interest in them. This activity was jointly organized by the CICU and the Chinese Students Association of Coventry University. Dr. Meng Zeyuan, chairman of the Chinese Students Association of Coventry University and vice chairman of the British Chinese Students and Scholars Association, said that as a traditional puzzle and card game in China, mahjong, chess, FIR can exercise people's ability to think deeply, which is also the core of its ability to attract international friends.
Professor Xiao Long, the Chinese Director of Confucius Institute, said that as the first cultural exchange activity jointly held with the Chinese Students Association, the Chinese Corner connected Chinese students with international students. In the future, the cooperation between the CICU and local Students Associations will be further strengthened, and more diversified cultural activities will be held.
