Chair Professor Qiu Dong's Monograph Published Overseas

Recently, chair professor Qiu Dong's monograph, Cornerstone or Sandy Foundation—Economic Statistics to Empirical Research, was published by American Academic PressAAP, and three English papers, Paradox in deviation measure and trap in method improvement—take international comparison as an example, Comments on the SSF Report from the perspective of economic statistics, and SNA Under the Framework of Global Public Goods were published in the journals of the American Institute of Mathematical Sciences (AIMS).

In Qiu Dong's monograph, a professional review of economic statistics, the basis for empirical research on social economy, especially national situation research and judgment is made. It introduces the existing research results of economic statistics from abroad and domestic, analyzes its intrinsic value and application significance, reveals various misunderstandings of specialties and indicators that have spread widely in society, discloses various “measurement traps” implicit in empirical applications, and summarizes the four difficult-to-evade fundamental contradiction in economic measures, especially its possible impact on the data results and empirical conclusions, and puts forward the discipline pattern and research focus of economic statistics.

Previously, Professor Qiu Dong's other two monographs Reflections of the Subject of Economic Statistics, and Logical Mining of Economic Measurement—Difficulties and Principles were published by the AAP in 2018 and 2019 respectively. The AAP is the foreign publisher recommended by the Chinese Academic Translation Project of the Social Science Foundation.

Since joining the School of Statistics, Professor Qiu Dong has published 14 high-quality papers on academic journals such as Statistical Research and Journal of Econometrics.
