On 23rd of March, the first Chinese Corner was held in the lounge of the International Students Apartment. Fro different students in different majors and with different Chinese proficiencies, learning Chinese is their first priority. Therefore, students are pretty keen on participating in Chinese corner. As soon as the activity started, the lounge was crowded with nearly 50 foreign students, and more than 30 local students as the lanuguage partners.

According to the theme of the first Chinese corner “A Jufer’s Day”, our volunteers prepared plenty of learning materials, such as how to greet others, how to make an order in restaurants, how to ask for directions, etc. Under the guide from two teachers of School of Humanities, all participants were divided into several groups, local students taught international students the words and sentences on the books, they also tried to do simulation practice with each other. With local students’ help, foreign students can have a deeper understanding both on Oral Chinese and Chinese culture. Their atmosphere was very good, laughters and cheers could be clearly heard from outside of the lounge.

This semester, Chinese corner will be held once every second week. Chinese corner is a routine cultural activity promoted by OICE, to help foreign students to improve their Chinese and quickly adapt to their lives at JUFE, to strengthen the relationship between Chinese and international students.
