The routine meeting of school deans was held

On 15th of April, the first routine meeting of school deans was held. President Wang Qiao, vice president Jiang Jinfa, Wang Xiaoping and the President’s assistant Li Liangzhi attended the meeting. The meeting was hosted by Wang Qiao, Li Liangzhi gave a lecture to all participants. The meeting focused onestablishing first-class disciplines and on evaluating curricula.

Wang Qiao emphasized the significance of establishing new disciplines during the development of the university, analyzed the momentum of the new policy of curriculum evaluation. He proposed three requests to all school deans. First of all, they should have sufficient determination and should not give up under pressure. Secondly, they need to develop appropriate strategies, fully prepare to implement the strategies in the long term. Thirdly, they should take a holistic view of establishing new disciplines, establishing subjects and talent training. Besides, Wang Qiao pointed that the quality of postgraduate students should be guaranteed; postgraduate tutors should be strict to their students.

The theme of Li Liangzhi’s lecture was “The new situation of establishing new disciplines and our tackling measures”. He shared his ideas on three aspects: the new situation of establishing new disciplines, the key points of establishing new disciplines, and the current process of establishing new disciplines at JUFE. According to his words, excellent discipline leaders, outstanding research directions and reliable teams are necessary to create high-level research accomplishments, cultivate high-quality talents and make good contributions to society.
